Are you a mental health professional who wants to know more about trauma and complicated grief? Could you use some guidance from someone who has been working in the field for over 19 years? I have a couple of options for you. One is a class that is on-demand through the Zur Institute on Traumatic Grief.

The other option is life consultation over HIPAA-secure video. I am licensed in California and Florida, but I can answer questions about trauma, complicated grief, EMDR therapy, and clinical hypnosis. While I am not an EMDRIA-Approved Consultant, I do have years of experience with treating trauma survivors and people dealing with bereavement. On-demand course: Identification and Treatment of Traumatic Grief in Adults

Comforting Hands

This class is worth three (3) hours of continuing education for many mental health professionals, including psychologists, licensed marriage and family therapists, and licensed clinical social workers. It covers traumatic and complicated grief – not only what constitutes acute and prolonged grief, but also different treatment options. It even includes a hypnotic recording as an example of how you can use hypnosis with traumatic and complicated grief. The learning objectives are as follows:

  • Describe the differences between traumatic and normal grief

  • Explain significant symptoms and comorbid conditions of traumatic grief

  • Discuss at least three approaches to the treatment of traumatic grief in adults

  • Identify cultural and gender considerations in the treatment of traumatic grief.
